Positive tests for COVID-19 stored in Saguenay

For the past few months, a small number of all Quebecers testing positive for COVID-19 have been living in Saguenay. The thousands of samples have all ended up in one place: in a vast biobank where the biological history of Quebec is catalogued.

The Génome Québec biobank, adjacent to the Chicoutimi hospital, is like a huge biological library. Instead of shelves of books, there are freezers full of samples in test tubes. Millions of samples in which positive COVID-19 tests from all over Quebec are stored.

    ECOGENE-21 tests drone delivery of medicines and samples in Alma

    People who suffer from rare diseases, or who have very specific medical monitoring needs, could see their treatment improved through the use of drones. To help make this a reality one day, the Saguenay-based ECOGENE-21 group recently took part in tests using small remote-controlled aircraft to deliver medicines or medical samples to remote areas.
