Dr. Gaudet is a clinician-scientist specializing in lipidology in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal (UdeM). He coordinates UdeM’s Community Genetic Medicine Center in Chicoutimi as well as its Clinical Lipidology and Rare Dyslipidemia Unit. He founded the Lipid Clinic at Chicoutimi Hospital and now heads ECOGENE-21, a non-profit clinical research organization dedicated to improving access to innovative diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with unmet medical needs.

His main academic activities focus on studying the natural history of rare or severe lipid disorders, translating new knowledge from extreme lipid phenotypes to more common disease forms, and facilitating access to innovative diagnostics or treatments. Along with his team, he has coordinated or led nearly 250 clinical studies over the years. To date, he is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications and over 550 scientific communications or book chapters.

Diane Brisson is Chief operating officer at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked for over 25 years. She holds a Ph.D. from Université Laval, completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, and is certified as a CCRP by SoCRA. A specialist in statistics, scientific writing, and academic mentoring, she is the go-to problem-solver within the organization.

Steve Arsenault is Director of Technologies and Innovation at ECOGENE-21, where he has worked since 1999. With academic training in medical biology and computer engineering, he combines his expertise in biology, computing, electronics, 3D modeling, and graphic design to create and develop innovative technological and biotechnological solutions, some of which are patented. He leads the design of specialized applications and the development of technologies for the collection, storage, and transport of samples or pharmaceutical products. A pragmatic innovator, he is known for his results-driven, efficient, and high-performance approach.

Marie-Claude Morissette is Director of Clinical Partnerships at ECOGENE-21. With nearly 20 years of experience in university teaching, preclinical research in the pharmaceutical industry, and clinical research, she has a diverse background. She holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacology from the Université de Sherbrooke, a master’s degree in biomedical sciences (psychiatry option) from the Université de Montréal, and a graduate diploma (DESS) in drug development (clinical research option) from the Université de Montréal. Marie-Claude is recognized for her versatility and resourcefulness.

Sophie Rousseau is Director of Regulatory Compliance and Project Management at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked since 2002. She has over 25 years of experience in clinical research. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and a master’s degree in regional studies from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, as well as a microprogram in ethics from Université Laval. Sophie is known for her impeccable organization and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Laurie-Anne Charest began her position as Head of Quality Assurance and Investigational Drug Management at ECOGENE-21 in 2021. Perfectionist and detail-oriented, she has over 10 years of experience in medication management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a certificate in health sciences from Université Laval, as well as a master’s degree in applied microbiology from the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS).

Hélène Gagné has been Administrative Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 1997. With more than 25 years of experience in the field, she brings strong expertise in administrative management and organizational efficiency. She holds two college diplomas (DECs) in office automation and administration, as well as a certificate in administration. Hélène is recognized for her rigor, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to the success of ECOGENE-21’s projects.

Annie Lavoie is Assistant Administrative Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 and a Medical Secretary at the Dre Roy and Dr Breton Cardiology Clinic, where she has worked since 2017. With experience as a medical secretary in dermatology, cardiology, and administration at ECOGENE-21, she has solid expertise in the healthcare field. She holds a college diploma in medical laboratory technology from Cégep de Chicoutimi and a vocational diploma (DEP) in secretarial studies from the OASIS Vocational Training Center. Annie stands out for her resourcefulness and efficiency.

Sandra Tremblay joined the team in 2024. She has over 23 years of experience in early childhood education, where she has held various roles in management, coordination and educational support. With a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a certificate in occupational health and safety, she stands out for her organisational skills, versatility and team spirit.

Lyne Côté is Clinical Sector Coordinator at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked for over 25 years. A research nurse since graduation, she has strong expertise in clinical study coordination and protocol compliance. A graduate in nursing techniques from Cégep de Chicoutimi, she is known for her professionalism and great patience—essential qualities in our organization.

Miriam Larouche is Sector Coordinator for Rare Dyslipidemias (SMASH) at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked since 2017. This was her first position in the field, starting as a Research Coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in experimental medicine from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of the ECOGENE-21 team. Curious and passionate, she contributes actively to advancing research on rare genetic diseases.

Marie-Lou Allard is a registered nurse with over 15 years of experience, including more than 10 years in critical care (emergency and intensive care). Disciplined and meticulous, she began her role as Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 in 2024, applying her expertise to support research projects.

Noémie Audet Verreault is a clinical nurse whose versatility allows her to serve both in regulatory compliance/project management and in quality assurance/investigational drug management at ECOGENE-21. Efficient and resourceful, she has 14 years of experience, including over eight in the healthcare system, at Héma-Québec, and in clinical research. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of the ECOGENE-21 team.

Marie-Pier Bouchard joined our team in 2024 as a Clinical Research Coordinator. A 2024 graduate, she holds a master’s degree in biomedical and clinical sciences as well as a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Careful and motivated, she brings a fresh perspective and great attention to detail to her work.

Véronique Côté has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2021. A graduate nurse from Cégep de Chicoutimi, she has extensive experience with patients experiencing loss of autonomy and in clinical research. Empathetic and dedicated, she plays a key role in ensuring studies run smoothly and participants receive proper support.

Josiane Dufour has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2020, where she began her career after completing graduate studies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and a master’s degree in neurobiology from Université Laval. Exceptionally organized, she ensures effective and structured management of clinical research projects.

Mélissa Gagnon has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2020. A qualified nurse with over 15 years of experience in the healthcare network, private practice, and clinical research, she holds both a technical diploma and a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Known for her cheerful personality, she fosters a positive work environment while ensuring studies are efficiently coordinated.

Claudy Grenon has been a Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2021. She brings extensive experience as a nurse in the healthcare system, mainly in cardiology and clinical research. A graduate in nursing from Cégep de Jonquière, she combines rigor and expertise in her work. Discreet and professional, she plays a key role in the smooth execution of research projects.

Nabila Menasria is Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2024. She has over five years of experience in regulatory affairs within the pharmaceutical industry and CROs. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Algiers and is CCRP-certified by the International Academy of Clinical Research. Nabila is known for her professional rigor and her warm interpersonal skills.

Joannie Pageau has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2019. With 20 years of experience as a licensed practical nurse in healthcare and clinical research, she has extensive expertise in her field. She holds a vocational diploma in health, assistance, and nursing from the OASIS Training Center. Joannie is known for her professionalism and dedication to excellence in all her projects.

Johanne Piché is Clinical Research Coordinator and Recruitment Specialist at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked since 2016. With nearly 35 years of experience, she has served as an intensive care nurse, laboratory technician for nurse training, and clinical research professional. She holds a college diploma in nursing from Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and has completed introductory research training for nurses at UdeM. Johanne stands out for her dynamic and colorful approach, bringing a unique touch to every project.

Kelly Senneville has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2022. With over 13 years of experience as a licensed practical nurse in healthcare, private enterprise, and clinical research, she has strong expertise in her field. She holds a vocational diploma in health, assistance, and nursing and is known for her ability to plan and organize projects efficiently, making her an outstanding planner.

Jeannine Landry is a Recruitment Specialist at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked for over 20 years. She brings 40 years of combined experience in healthcare, primarily in psychiatry, and as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Université Laval’s Robert-Giffard Research Center and at ECOGENE-21. A nursing graduate from Cégep de Jonquière with a certificate in gerontology from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, she is known for her empathy and dedication to research participants.

Marc-Olivier Brassard joined our team in 2022 as a Laboratory Technician. He holds a college diploma in medical laboratory technology and has gained significant experience at the CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean laboratory. Methodical and a true team player, he actively contributes to the smooth operation of laboratory activities.

Denise Morin has been a Laboratory Technician at ECOGENE-21 since 1997. She began her career in a hospital setting before joining our team. Known for her cheerful personality and efficiency, she contributes to a pleasant and productive work environment. Denise holds a college diploma in biomedical laboratory technology from Cégep de Chicoutimi and a certificate in administration from UQAC.

Dr. Caroline Blanchet is Co-Investigator at ECOGENE-21, where she joined the team in 2024. A general practitioner in a family medicine group (GMF) for over 15 years, she is also an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Sherbrooke. Holding a Doctor of Medicine from the Université de Sherbrooke, Dr. Blanchet brings her clinical expertise and academic experience to each research project.

Dr. Robert Breton has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2017. A cardiologist for over 30 years at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, he is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke and a clinical research investigator. Holding FRCPC titles in cardiology and internal medicine, Dr. Breton is a dedicated professional who combines clinical expertise with a strong commitment to advancing research.

Dr. Luiz Isabel Chénier-Arcila has been a Co-Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2023. A general practitioner since 2020 at GMF du Royaume, she also actively participates in the palliative care team. Holding a Doctor of Medicine from the Université de Sherbrooke, Dr. Chénier-Arcila stands out for her calm and composed approach, combining serenity and rigor in both her clinical and research work.

Dr. Fanny Côté has been a Co-Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2022. She has practiced internal medicine at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2008 and actively collaborates on clinical research projects. She holds a Doctor of Medicine with specialization in internal medicine from Université Laval. Dr. Côté is known for her efficiency and commitment to providing quality care.

An obstetrician-gynecologist at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2014, she is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke and a clinical research investigator since 2019. She holds a bachelor’s in biomedical sciences, a master’s in pharmacology, and a Doctor of Medicine specializing in obstetrics and gynecology from the Université de Montréal. Dr. Guérin is a meticulous professional, both in clinical practice and in research.

Dr. Alex Lauzière has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2023. A cardiologist at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2019, he is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. He holds a Doctor of Medicine with specialization in internal medicine and cardiology from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical sciences (lipidology option). Dr. Lauzière is known for his strong work ethic and dedication to advancing knowledge in his areas of expertise.

Dr. Catherine Lavoie has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2024. A general practitioner since 1991, she has practiced in various healthcare settings. Committed and reassuring, she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate, human approach, creating a trusting care and work environment. She actively participates in clinical research to advance medical knowledge. Dr. Lavoie holds a Doctor of Medicine from the Université de Montréal (UdeM).

Dr. Jean-Philippe Milot has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2022. An internist at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2018, he is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. He holds a Doctor of Medicine specializing in internal medicine. Dr. Milot is known for his dry sense of humor and his serious, professional approach to research and clinical practice.

Dr. Nathalie Roy has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2017. A cardiologist since 1993, she is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke and a clinical research investigator since 1994. She holds a Doctor of Medicine specializing in internal medicine and cardiology from the Université de Sherbrooke, a fellowship in cardiac rehabilitation, and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from the Université de Montréal. Dr. Roy stands out for her deeply human approach, combining clinical expertise and compassion in her practice.

Isabelle Brisson began collaborating with our team as a kinesiologist in 2024. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal under our supervision. Energetic and passionate, she has nearly 20 years of experience in kinesiology, including developing a remote training program for oncology clients. She holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, a certificate in organizational development, and a graduate diploma (DESS) in the same field, all from Université Laval.
