  Dr Daniel Gaudet, MD, PhDChief executive officer, Scientific directorDr. Gaudet is a clinician-scientist specializing in lipidology in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal (UdeM). He coordinates UdeM’s Community Genetic Medicine Center in Chicoutimi as well as its Clinical Lipidology and Rare Dyslipidemia Unit. He founded the Lipid Clinic at Chicoutimi Hospital and now heads ECOGENE-21, a non-profit clinical research organization dedicated to improving access to innovative diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with unmet medical needs. His main academic activities focus on studying the natural history of rare or severe lipid disorders, translating new knowledge from extreme lipid phenotypes to more common disease forms, and facilitating access to innovative diagnostics or treatments. Along with his team, he has coordinated or led nearly 250 clinical studies over the years. To date, he is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications and over 550 scientific communications or book chapters.  Diane Brisson, Ph.D., CCRPChief operating officerDiane Brisson is Chief operating officer at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked for over 25 years. She holds a Ph.D. from Université Laval, completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, and is certified as a CCRP by SoCRA. A specialist in statistics, scientific writing, and academic mentoring, she is the go-to problem-solver within the organization.  Steve ArsenaultDirector of technologies and innovationsSteve Arsenault is Director of Technologies and Innovation at ECOGENE-21, where he has worked since 1999. With academic training in medical biology and computer engineering, he combines his expertise in biology, computing, electronics, 3D modeling, and graphic design to create and develop innovative technological and biotechnological solutions, some of which are patented. He leads the design of specialized applications and the development of technologies for the collection, storage, and transport of samples or pharmaceutical products. A pragmatic innovator, he is known for his results-driven, efficient, and high-performance approach.  Marie-Claude Morissette, MScDirector of clinical partnershipsMarie-Claude Morissette is Director of Clinical Partnerships at ECOGENE-21. With nearly 20 years of experience in university teaching, preclinical research in the pharmaceutical industry, and clinical research, she has a diverse background. She holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacology from the Université de Sherbrooke, a master’s degree in biomedical sciences (psychiatry option) from the Université de Montréal, and a graduate diploma (DESS) in drug development (clinical research option) from the Université de Montréal. Marie-Claude is recognized for her versatility and resourcefulness.  Sophie Rousseau, MARegulatory compliance and project management directorSophie Rousseau is Director of Regulatory Compliance and Project Management at ECOGENE-21, where she has worked since 2002. She has over 25 years of experience in clinical research. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and a master’s degree in regional studies from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, as well as a microprogram in ethics from Université Laval. Sophie is known for her impeccable organization and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Annie LavoieAssistant coordinator in administrationAnnie Lavoie is Assistant Administrative Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 and a Medical Secretary at the Dre Roy and Dr Breton Cardiology Clinic, where she has worked since 2017. With experience as a medical secretary in dermatology, cardiology, and administration at ECOGENE-21, she has solid expertise in the healthcare field. She holds a college diploma in medical laboratory technology from Cégep de Chicoutimi and a vocational diploma (DEP) in secretarial studies from the OASIS Vocational Training Center. This was her first position in the field, starting as a Research Coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in experimental medicine from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of the ECOGENE-21 team. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of the ECOGENE-21 team. Claudy Grenon, Registered nurseClaudy Grenon has been a Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2021. She brings extensive experience as a nurse in the healthcare system, mainly in cardiology and clinical research. A graduate in nursing from Cégep de Jonquière, she combines rigor and expertise in her work. Discreet and professional, she plays a key role in the smooth execution of research projects. Nabila Menasria, PharmDNabila Menasria is Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator at ECOGENE-21 since 2024. She has over five years of experience in regulatory affairs within the pharmaceutical industry and CROs. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Algiers and is CCRP-certified by the International Academy of Clinical Research. She holds a bachelor’s in biomedical sciences, a master’s in pharmacology, and a Doctor of Medicine specializing in obstetrics and gynecology from the Université de Montréal. Dr. Guérin is a meticulous professional, both in clinical practice and in research.  Dr. Alex Lauzière, MD, MScGeneral practitionerDr. Alex Lauzière has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2023. A cardiologist at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2019, he is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. He holds a Doctor of Medicine with specialization in internal medicine and cardiology from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical sciences (lipidology option). Dr. Lauzière is known for his strong work ethic and dedication to advancing knowledge in his areas of expertise.  Dr. Catherine Lavoie, MDCardiologistDr. Catherine Lavoie has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2024. A general practitioner since 1991, she has practiced in various healthcare settings. Committed and reassuring, she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate, human approach, creating a trusting care and work environment. She actively participates in clinical research to advance medical knowledge. Dr. Lavoie holds a Doctor of Medicine from the Université de Montréal (UdeM).  Dr. Jean-Philippe Milot, MDDr. Jean-Philippe Milot has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2022. An internist at CIUSSS Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2018, he is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. He holds a Doctor of Medicine specializing in internal medicine. Dr. Milot is known for his dry sense of humor and his serious, professional approach to research and clinical practice.  Dr. Nathalie Roy, MD, MScCardiologistDr. Nathalie Roy has been an Investigator at ECOGENE-21 since 2017. A cardiologist since 1993, she is also an associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke and a clinical research investigator since 1994.
